  13. Space Explorer is a screen saver where various planets
  14. and space objects fly over the screen(the window of a
  15. space ship).  Don't forget to setup your own
  16. background sound in its setup screen - a FREE sound package, 
  17. soundbk.zip, is available
  18. in Mark's home page: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/mark_qian
  19. You can also get it from WINAV, WUGNET, and WINGAM in Compuserver.
  20. It also inlcudes some COOL utility 
  21. functions such as MessagePad (which allows your visitors leave
  22. you Text, Voice, Picture, and even Movie), Task Scheduler
  23. (which allows you launch executable files at the time you specify),
  24. and a cuckoo clock which sing at each hour.

  44. A COOL shareware, Savervisor is included. Savervisor is a Screen
  45. Saver and Wall Paper Manager. It provides a lot of VERY COOL 
  46. functions:

  48.   - It appears as an icon that allows you launch a screen saver
  49.     instantly by a single click of RIGHT mouse button.
  50.  
  51.  - It can be run in a INVISIBLE mode. With this great feature,
  52.     you can just put it into Windows Startup group in Program 
  53.     Manager and forget it: It will take care all the management 
  54.     tasks while you never realize it is working for you!

  56.   - It allows you specify the sensitive areas where you can click
  57.     the RIGHT mouse button to launch a saver instantly.
  58.  
  59.   - It provide saver (and wallpaper) scheduling capability.  That is, 
  60.     it allows you specify what saver(wallpaper) to be activate at a 
  61.     specified hour through a week.  It also allows you switch savers 
  62.     (wallpaper)through all the savers(BMP files) in your Windows 
  63.     directory and specify switchng period.

  67. NOTE: Savervisor is an independent shareware which requires a
  68. different registration.  That is, you have to register each of
  69. them separately. Registration of any of them will NOT cover the
  70. other.

  74. run setup.exe:

  77. A). What will be installed by setup.exe?
  78.  
  79.  The SETUP.EXE will copy five files into your windows directory:
  80.  
  81.  space.src      -- The main executable file of Space Explorer;
  82.  space.txt      -- Documentation file;
  83.  
  84.  collide.wav    -- Wave file required for collision sound effect;
  85.  space_0.wav      -- Wave files required for background music; 
  86.  space_1.wav

  88.  planet0.bmp
  89.  - planet14.bmp -- BMP files for space objects; 
  90.  
  91.  If the package includes the utility, Savervisor,  the SETUP.EXE 
  92.  will copy five files into the directory that you
  93.  specify(the default is c:\saverv):

  114. B). Environment requirement: 
  115.  
  116.  - VBRUN300.DLL;
  117.  - A sound card is recommended;
  118.  
  119. C). How to install?
  120.  
  121.  "Step By Step" instructions for installation:
  122.  
  123.     1). VBRUN300.DLL(if you don't have one in your system);
  124.       
  125.       You can download VBRUN300.dll from following place:
  126.  
  127.         In compuserve, GO WINAV and search its library for
  128.         file named vbrun3.zip
  129.  
  130.         In WWW, http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/mark_qian
  131.  
  132.         In Internet, ftp://ftp.coast.net/SimTel/win3/dll
  133.  
  134.         In America Online, Go to software library and search for
  135.         file named vbrun300.exe.
  136.  
  137.         After downloading and unziping it, you need to move it
  138.         into Windows system directry, c:\windows\system.
  139.  
  140.   2). Copy space.zip into a temporary directory, say c:\tmp;
  141.   3). Unzip space within c:\tmp using pkunzip.exe;
  142.   4). Run c:\tmp\setup.exe from File Manager(double click at the
  143.       icon of c:\tmp\setup.exe);
  144.   5). If this package includes a utility, Savervisor, you will be
  145.       asked to key in the directory where Savervisor will be installed.
  146.       You need to either key in you own directory or use the default 
  147.       one. If the package does not include Savervisor, you will not see the
  148.       dialog.
  149.   6). The setup program will then ask you choose from one of following
  150.          a). Run the saver now;
  151.          b). Setup the saver now;
  152.          c). Exit to Windows now;
  153.        You need to choose one of them.
  154.     Note: if you choose (click at) the first choice, "Run the
  155. saver now",
  156.           please don't move or click your mouse after click at
  157. the choice.
  158.           Otherwise, you will disable the saver right after you
  159. enable it.
  160.  
  161.   If you like setup or test the saver that you have installed,
  162. please open
  163.   the Desktop of Windows Control Panel, select the saver from
  164. Screen Saver
  165.   section, and test or setup the saver.
  166.  
  167. D). TroubleShooting:
  168.  
  169.     Q:  I have downloaded your screen saver recently 
  170.         and I was having a problem with getting it to work
  171. properly.  
  172.         After initializing I get a message "... caused a general 
  173.         protection fault in module VGA.DRV at 0001:0ca2". 
  174.   
  175.     A:  Changed your screen driver in winsetup to SVGA.
  176.

  178. E). How to get more information?
  179.

  181. This program is a shareware.  You are welcome to distribute this package
  182. (space.zip) by any means: copy it to your friends, upload it to your
  183. favorite BBSs or On-line systems.  
  184. However, it is NOT a freeware. You will be able to use(evaluate) it up to 30 
  185. times or 30 days. You then have to register(pay fee to its author) if you still 
  186. want to use it after that.
